Description
INSTRUCTOR: Jill
PROJECT: Kawandi - Hand Quilting
SESSIONS: 1 Day
DATE: May 30, 2025
TIME: 10am - 4pm
SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner
DESCRIPTION: : Kawandi is the Siddi word for quilting. The Siddi people are of African descent and have lived in Western India for hundreds of years. Come to class for a relaxing day of simple hand-stitching. We’ll work on a 12” piece. Start with a backing, add filler and then play with 2”-6” scraps, be they calm or wild and crazy or on a theme. Add phula and tikeli to see how Kawandi are different than the quilts we make. Simple hand sewing, no fancy tools and no machine to drag around that day!
